CH:THE WOODEN CHAIR!

To me, Carl Hansen represents the wooden chair!

I have a hard time describing the pleasant feeling I get whenever I get this chair in my hands. The curve and fragrance of the wood, which is not painted, the backrest lovingly steam bent are uniquely perfect!

The name of the famous chair is CH24 “Wishbone chair”. It dates back to 1949 by the genius architect Hans Jorgen Wegner and it synthesizes the essence of Danish design, that I love a lot.

Resistant and comfortable, the seat is realized with 120 meters of paper cable and it takes 3 weeks of work plus 100 manual operations. It is available natural, beech, ash tree, oak, walnut tree, and cherry tree wood or painted in 27 color variants.

Originally, it was the last variant of a series inspired by portraits of Danish merchants who were seated on Chinese Ming chairs. It was a big step to create a chair with chest rail and arm rests merged together. This is why it was called “YChair”.

The company that produces this chair is called Carl Hansen and its story has been passed on from generation to generation for more than 100 years.

It continues to produce elegant pieces with great mastery, comfortable and almost entirely handmade. Their craftsmanship is their strength, and each piece is finished and checked manually, with great care and attention.

The refined “shell chair”, designed in the 60s by Hans Wegner, which form reminds us of a smile, results still current today.

Like a sculpture, it needs space to be appreciated in the winged shape of the seat and arch shaped legs.

I have used these chairs and armchairs both in dining rooms and in living rooms, pairing them with tables with clean lines but also using other unusual matches that have always repaid me with their natural elegance, never getting tired of it. They are part of those classic pieces that are timeless and that even after years they confirm themselves to be good choices in prestigious locations.

I can say with certainty that they style of these chairs is timeless and without limits because their simple and clean forms are adaptable to any kind of environment and living style.

“We have to make sure that not everything is taken seriously, we have to play- but play seriously.” (Hans J. Wegner)"
